ABOUT PASTOR JONATHAN ALVEAR:

Jonathan Alvear has been in full-time ministry for 40 years - with 29 of those years as a Pastor. His father was a Missionary to Brazil, and it was there that his mother taught him to sing. He fell in love with the old hymns - songs that have carried him for many years.

He sings these songs with the kind of tenor that can only come from going through deep trials - and in finding grace through Jesus Christ. The songs included on this album are meant to be sung "in the key of life."

Track 1: My Tribute

The keynote song on this album is accented with a trumpet solo by Steve Patrick. Mr. Patrick is an acclaimed trumpeter, having played for recording greats such as Aretha Franklin, Maynard Ferguson, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Rogers, Norah Jones, and many, many others.

Track 2: I've Been Through Enough

Gordon Mote is known for his piano playing and singing (especially on the Gaither Homecoming series). He brings along his wife Kimberly and daughter Samantha as background vocalists in this soul-stirring melody.

Co-producing this album with Gordon Mote is 4-time Dove Award nominee and Grammy nominated songwriter and musician Brian Green. His past programming and productions for other artists include Amy Grant, Carmen, Twila Paris, The Imperials, and Phillips Craig and Dean. He is also featured on the keys throughout the album.

Track 4: His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Gordon Mote has been blind since birth, but that hasn't stopped this virtuoso. At the age of 3, he surprised his family with his own version of "Jesus Loves Me" - using both hands. Since then, he's toured with Trisha Yearwood, Tanya Tucker, Porter Wagoner, and the Gaither Vocal Band. He is also the piano player on Alan Jackson's "Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning?"

Mark Douthit (on saxophone) joins Tom Hemby (on guitar) on this track. Having performed or recorded with top artists like Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Don Henley, Michael W. Smith, and many others, Mark brings a lot to the table with his luxurious sound.

Track 6: Faith Unlocks The Door

Four-time Dove winner and one-time Grammy winning guitarist Tom Hemby is featured on Track 6. The soulful notes sooth the spirit as the lyrics inspire faith. You may recognize Tom Hemby's work from his time recording with Amy Grant, The Imperials, BeBe & CeCe Winans, and Peter Cetera.

Track 9: Walk With Me

The only chorus on the album, "Walk With Me" carries with it the minor chords reflective of Pastor Alvear's time as a missionary's son in Brazil. He has since dedicated much of his life to preserving the churches that his father started.

Track 10: I Asked The Lord

Behind every project is someone whose passion for the music propels it forward. Such is the case with Chris Jewell of Mic Records. It was his insistence that pushed Pastor Alvear to record a first album, and this second album "My Thanks To Him," is a continuation of the desire to record great music.
